Subnets
Subnets divide a larger network into smaller, manageable network segments. In SITE Cloud, they are used to organize resources and apply clearer network boundaries for administration and security.
Subnets Overview
Use subnets to make network allocation easier to manage inside a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). A subnet is associated with a business group and a VPC, and it defines the address range, gateway, DNS suffix, and DNS server settings used by resources connected to that network segment.
Creating a Subnet
- Log in to Cloud Portal.
- In the left sidebar, open Networking.
- Open Subnets.
- Click Create.
- Select the Business Group that will own the subnet.
- Select the VPC: SSA or HSA.
- Enter the subnet details.
- Submit the request.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The subnet name. |
| Network | The network range, for example 192.168.0.0/24. |
| Gateway | The gateway address for the subnet. |
| DNS suffix | The domain suffix for the subnet, for example google.com. |
| DNS server | The DNS server assigned to the subnet, for example 8.8.8.8. |
